Bismillah
Time is one of those creations of Allah that we so often neglect. When we read about how Allah has created all things, we most often focus on what we see, and touch; anything beyond the realm of sight, hearing and feeling is taken for granted.
We only pay attention to this entity, this creation that the Creator swore by, when we need it to speed up or slow down, and what makes you wish for time to speed up like covering a critical care ward on a night shift?
From the lungs struggling to breathe, to the heart struggling to beat, the unit feels like Earth vs. Gargantua. To the exhausted brain deeply in need of sleep, an hour equates to 20 minutes, but to the mother caring for an air-hungry child a few blocks away, the same hour feels like 7 years.
Al Qābid and Al Bāsit chooses to constrict or expand time to two slaves living in the same building; He does so subtly and perfectly, as is worthy of His Perfection.
As the clock ticks slower than ever as I patiently wait for this shift to end, I am reminded that the One Who controls time and all that exists, has promised a severe torment for a part of His creation, one that would last for eternity.
While the healthcare worker waits for daybreak to handover the unit after a night that has felt like a hundred nights, it would be wise to remember the true reality of a punishment that does not cease when the sun rises.
May Allah save us from His anger and punishment.
Jazakillah khairan. That reminds me of short peom I wrote years back.
Time, the scale to quantify life.
Time, is what we share in common.
Time, the wealth for all.
"When it's time" a common phrase we say.
But i ask, why asking for more when you can't manage the one you have.
I wonder why everything depends on time.
Those who died complain "if we can have more time"
Those alive seek for more time.
Ahhh!! Such a greedy nature of mankind!!
Until you appreciate the one you have "time".
HE, promise not to give you more.
This is amazing. I can resonates with the constricting and expanding of time by Allah. It's so funny that when we ask each other for the time, we say the same thing but experience different length. Allahu Akbar. Thank you for sharing.
